Ahoy there matey! Steve Rosen will join the closing cast of off-Broadway's Peter and the Starcatcher as Black Stache's (Rick Holmes) first mate Smee starting November 11. Rosen, who will be making his third appearance in the show, replaces original cast member Kevin Del Aguila in the role, who played his final performance on November 10. Peter and the Starcatcher will play its final performance at New World Stages on Sunday, January 12, 2014.
In addition to Holmes, the cast of Peter and the Starcatcher includes Nicole Lowrance (Molly), Jordan Geiger (Boy), Edward Baker-Duly (Lord Aster), Matt D’Amico (Slank), Jimmy Keiffer (Alf), Josh Grisetti (Fighting Prawn), Alex Hernandez (Captain Scott), Nate Miller (Ted), Andrew Mueller (Prentiss), Jon Patrick Walker (Mrs. Bumbrake), Joanna Howard, Evan Johnson, José Restrepo, and Graham Stevens.
Peter and the Starcatcher, winner of the 2012 Broadway.com Audience Choice Award for Favorite New Play, is an imaginative prequel to the story of Peter Pan. Directed by Timbers and Roger Reese and written by Rick Elice, the play with music features a company of twelve actors playing more than a hundred unforgettable characters, all on a journey to answer the century-old question: How did Peter Pan become The Boy Who Never Grew Up?
Rosen recently co-wrote and co-starred in the acclaimed off-Broadway musical The Other Josh Cohen. He has previously played Smee and Black Stache in the off-Broadway run of Peter and the Starcatcher. Rosen appeared on Broadway in Guys and Dolls, The Farnsworth Invention and Spamalot.
